First XMM-LSS Cluster Candidates

Extended X-ray sources and optical cluster catalogs produced by
Ivan Valtchanov, Stefano Andreon, Christophe Adami, Jon Willis, Olivier Le Fèvre and the Terapix team.

XMM-LSS cluster candidate. (Red sequence detection algorithm). CFH12k I-band image overlaid with X-ray contours (top) and the color-magnitude (CM) diagram from CTIO R and z' images (below). The red sequence detection box used for the CM diagram is indicated. Estimated redshift 0.3.

XMM-LSS optical cluster candidate. (Red sequence detection and no X-ray). CTIO z'-band image overlaid with X-ray contours (top) and the color-magnitude from R and z' images (below). The objects with marks are on the red (R-z') sequence brighter than the considered magnitude limits (m < 22.5) and inside the indicated detection box. Estimated redshift 0.35.

The objects with marks are on the red (R-z') sequence brighter than the considered magnitude limits (m < 21) and inside the indicated detection box. Estimated redshift 0.3.

XMM-LSS cluster candidate. True color image overlaid with X-ray contours. The optical clustering analysis in photometric resdhift slices finds a cluster at z~0.9. The CFH12k images in I(red), R(green) and V(blue) filters were used.
