A picture of Comet LINEAR C/2000 WM1.
The small image shows the position of the spectrograph slit crossing the coma.

This picture shows a part of the UVES spectrum with an emission band from the CN radical.

This picture is an enlarged view of the high-resolution CN spectrum (blue line) compared to a "synthetic"
spectrum based on theoretical calculations (black line) without (top) and with (bottom) the rare isotopic species.
C14N (red ticks) and 12C15N (blue ticks) emission lines are indicated. They are used for the determination
of the carbon-13 and nitrogen-15 abundances.

Comet LINEAR A2 splits further : Three nuclei are visible on this image obtained in the
early evening of May 16, 2001, with the 8.2-m VLT YEPUN (UT4) telescope at Paranal.
